Based on the Chinese and German Year Catchword from 2008 to 2018, which were released by Chinese authoritative journal “Yao Wen Jiao Zi” and German Language Committee, this paper analyses the causes of popularity between Chinese and German Words of the Year from the perspective of Memetics. Due to their simple, concise, lively and interesting forms, as well as high concern for their background events, their capability to express ideas, effect of mass media dissemination, they become strong memes. |
