| Originated in the field of phonology, componential analysis(CA)is the outcome of the development of structural linguistics. More importantly, it is an instrument of analyzing meanings. This paper, based on CA's emergence and diachronic development, selects some representative academic works and papers, attempting to analyze its applications and functions. Meanwhile, its merits and demerits are also discussed. |
