| Ian McEwan consistently engages with the monumental question of "what it means to be human. " His work, *Machines Like Me*, projects a pessimistic future vision, portraying Adam (the robot) and Charlie (the human) as co-constructed "new types of disabled bodies. " The novel systematically unveils the mechanisms through which Adam is ostracized as a disabled Other, while simultaneously dramatizing the gradual self-alienation and disabled predicament of humanity in the post-technological era. On this basis, this paper dissects the generative logic of the human-machine disability crisis: humanity's narcissistic cognitive limitations, the atrophy of human emotional capacity induced by technological dependency, and the self-defensive mechanisms triggered by technological transgression. Ultimately, McEwan envisions a "nomadic" human-machine relationship that transcends anthropocentrism, offering an imaginative pathway for healing new forms of disability and constructing a dynamic, dialogical community of technological ethics in the post-human era. |
