As two core concepts of neo-materialism, "agency" and "intra-action" have been concretized in the literary field through the dissolution of subject-object dichotomies within human-object relations and the construction of subjective identities through material narratives. These concepts serve as significant analytical lenses for investigating the "thingness" of objects. In Cat's Eye, Margaret Atwood, inspired by contemporary visual artists, creatively conceived a series of paintings, focusing her writing on the detailed description of materials. By breaking the binary opposition between human and non-human matter, body and non-body, she challenged the anthropocentric status with the richness, initiative and interrelation of the material world. This deconstruction of power relations and dissolution of either-or confrontational thinking prevents humanity from once again falling into the ethical crisis of "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, " reflects the literary exploration of posthumanist thought.
