Sou Yu Xiao Ji is an anthology of poems from the early Tang Dynasty, providing insight into the development of poetic art during this period. Most of the selected regulated verses in this book already conform to the tonal pattern rules of the Tang Dynasty, with few issues in tonal arrangements, and exhibit diverse artistic techniques. Through quantitative analysis of the poems in Sou Yu Xiao Ji, unique characteristics of the era can be observed in terms of vocabulary, syntax, poetic trends, and aesthetic preferences. It is evident that during the period from Empress Wu's reign to the Kaiyuan era, the creation of regulated poetry underwent rapid development and continuous refinement. |
