| Jean Valjean′s life experience went from being a marginalized criminal in society, through inner moral awakening and a series of self sacrificial behaviors, ultimately becoming the embodiment of justice and kindness, demonstrating the complexity of good and evil in human nature and the possibility of moral awakening. The image of Jean Valjean in Les Misé rables is not only Hugo′s profound exploration of the themes of suffering and redemption, but also his profound commentary on social injustice and the complexity of human nature in the 19th century. Through the story of Jean Valjean, Hugo demonstrated that even in the most difficult environments, people can find a path of redemption through love and sacrifice. |
