| 《论语》对中国文化影响巨大。《论语》译本中比较有影响的是苏格兰汉学家理雅各在1893年翻译出版的《中国经典》中第一卷的《论语》，另一个争议大但有影响力的是中国清末民初辜鸿铭的《论语》的英译本。应用德国的功能翻译理论，研究两者在文化词语上不同的策略选择，以揭示中国古代文献的翻译规律。 |

| In the light of functionalist approach, this thesis compares translation of the cultural aspects of the two influential English versions of The Analects of Confucius, using the Skopos theory, in search of the essentials of the translations techniques and rules for translating Chinese classics. |
