| After advancing his literal translation theory, Luxun advocated reforming Chinese vernacular around May 4th Movement. At the same time, he put forward his opinion of "striving for faithfulness even when the version may not be smooth", which aroused a spirited discussion on translation in Chinese history. This article analyzes the forming background of Luxun’s Foreignization theory and points out both its advantages and disadvantages in the history of translation study in China. |
