| Among the martial arts epics written by Louis Cha(under the pen name Jin Yong), "A Pithy Formula for Lian-Cheng Sword Manual" is not very noticeable, but its content is quite unique and it occupies an important position in all Cha’s works. This novel focuses on the evil aspects in humanity and describes various ugly phenomena that may exist in the human society to probe into the weakness of human beings, then try to find its source--material desires, which uncover the enigma of the human existance. This novel goes beyond the traditional notion of chivalry and creates a new type of hero-Di Yun. This novel is an important turning point of Cha’s works from the literature of chivalry to the literature of human. |
