| Morality, emotion and cognition are three core elements of Jane Austen's novels, and also the main problems in which Jane Austen's heroines often stuck. Different from heroines in other Jane Austen's works, Fanny Price in Mansfield Park own independent character and intelligence which are rare among many females of her contemporaries, though she is adopted and bring up by his uncle in Mansfield Park. When she meets with moral condemnation and conflict between morality and love, she can stick to her independent mind and make right decision. The female independence showed in Mansfield Park is irrelevant to properties and unshackled by the secular morality and emotion, and it is female independence of mind and cognition. |
