| The theory of grammatical metaphor, proposed by M. A. K. Halliday, the founder of the Systemic Functional linguistics, contains valuable ecological insights, which are discussed in three ways: the metaphorical nature of human cognition; language′s constructing social reality; the relativity of scientific truths. These three aspects touch the relation between language and the world and the nature of human knowledge, and thus provide far-reaching ecological implications. |
