| The Regrets is a novel written by Dong Xi.It records its main character Zeng Guangxian’s failure experiences of abstinency and lechery from 1960s to 1990s.According to the particularities of the two times,this book describes a series of paradoxical situations,which achieves a great ironic effect.Zeng Guangxian could not resist physical temptation in abstinent time while in lechery time,he could stick to ethics.Hence,an obviously strong contrast between his good will and his punishment comes into being. |
